A Joy-filled Souljourner’s Graduation
The Souljourners class of 2024 joyfully gathered with family, friends, and Mount sisters on July 13, 2024, to celebrate their graduation. The seven students had spent three years studying and doing practicum work in preparation to become spiritual directors. During the graduation ceremony, which took place in St. Scholastica Chapel, the graduates reflected on what it means to be a spiritual director, were anointed to affirm their calling, received their certificate, and were blessed by the sisters. A reception followed at Sophia Spirituality Center.
In thanking the Souljourners staff on behalf of all the students, Kirby Smyth said, “Souljourners in an aptly named program because the last three years have been transformative. You have more than represented your Benedictine values and imprinted them on us. When we come on campus, serenity washes over us. The amount of grace, wisdom, and innovation here is amazing, and we know you are committed to growing this program so it becomes as expansive as your own hearts.”
