Retreat Accommodations

We have two primary private retreat accommodations, St. Cecilia’s and the Just Bee Hermitage. Each offers you a distinctly different retreat experience to choose from. Most guests come for 2-3 days, but we are happy to accommodate shorter or longer stays.

For groups of up to 20, we house guests in St. Catherine’s.

St. Cecilia’s

St. Cecilia’s is the renovated original location of the first monastery and school opened by the Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica. Offering seven private rooms with bathrooms, you will also find a common area to relax in, as well as a small, shared kitchenette with a small refrigerator, coffee maker/Keurig, electric kettle, and microwave.

This option is great if you are seeking quiet and solitude, but may also be looking for a more integrated experience with the community and have meals provided for you. On a retreat stay at St. Cecilia’s meals are typically taken in the dining room with the sisters. If you would like to join them for prayer, the chapel is just a short walk away, with no need to go outside between buildings. St. Scholastica chapel and the monastery library are also easily accessible. A stay at St. Cecilia’s is also ideal if you and a friend or family member are in great need of retreat time in a quiet, prayerful, and spiritually enriching environment.

A retreat stay at St. Cecilia’s can begin anytime from Monday evening and end as late as the following Sunday at noon.

Just Bee Hermitage

The Just Bee Hermitage is a lovely, small cottage, built for one. As a guest staying at the hermitage, you will find a fully equipped kitchen for you to cook your meals, a comfortable living room to relax in, and an outdoor patio to enjoy as well.

A retreat stay at the hermitage is ideal if you are seeking to experience a deeper sense of privacy. Located on the far corner of the monastery grounds, it fosters solitude and silence. If you wish to join the sisters for prayers, visit the monastery library, or St. Scholastica chapel, you can enjoy a walk across the beautiful campus, or drive if you prefer.

St. Catherine’s

St. Catherine’s was originally built as housing for women attending the college. Located just across the drive from Sophia Center, it is a short walk to meeting and gathering spaces. Here we are able to house guests for groups of 20 or fewer, and where you can expect to stay when bringing a group. If the group is small, however, sometimes we are able to accommodate guests in St. Cecilia’s.
