About Keeler
Keeler Women’s Center opens
Keeler Women’s Center opened at Donnelly College under the leadership of Sister Carol Ann Petersen, OSB.
The center is named after Sister Jerome Keeler, OSB who had served as the first president of Donnelly College. “Educating those who would not otherwise be educated.” one of S. Jerome’s beliefs, resulted in Keeler Women’s Center mission of “empowering women in the urban core through education, advocacy and personal and spiritual development.”
Partnership with Catholic Charities
KWC partnered with Catholic Charities of Northeast and moved to the second floor of 2220 Central Ave in KCKS.
As the needs of the community grew, KWC grew it’s services to include bilingual and Spanish speaking classes and programs. It grew new partnerships with other local agencies who still support our center. Long standing partners include: K-State Research and Extension, MOCSA, Catholic Charities of NKC and Arvest Bank among others.
Move to current location
KWC moved to its current location at 759 Vermont Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas.
Thanks to the financial support of the Benedictine Sister of Mount St. Scholastica located in Atchison, Kansas. KWC’s services now include counseling, support groups, and a wide variety of classes and services for free!
This past fiscal year we served over 8,000 women and men per year in the KC Metro Area. If you would like to help support our mission please donate now.
