Sisters Share Their Benedictine Values with Employees

Employees participate in a team-building exercise
during a mission effectiveness meeting.
The Mount relies on many employees to care for our sisters and family members in Dooley Center, maintain our buildings and grounds, and assist with our ministries at Keeler Women’s Center and Sophia Center. As a way of inviting our employees to share in our mission of hospitality, prayer, and care of the sick, we have developed a mission effectiveness program to introduce employees to our Benedictine values. The program also provides employees with some skill-building tools.
Beginning in April of 2024, Sisters Barbara Conroy, Patricia Gamgort, and Linda Zahner, along with Dooley Center employees DeAnna Low and Brandy Schmelzle, have planned and presented quarterly presentations for employees. Thus far, topics have included awareness and prayer; community; hospitality (presented by Sister Constance Krstolic); stewardship; team building; and solution-focused problem solving (presented by Percy Turner, a speaker affiliated with Wichita State University). Future sessions will include a tour of the monastery and Sophia Spirituality Center and a presentation about our commitment to care for the earth.
Employees who responded to a survey about the program said that they enjoy hearing sisters’ stories about their life and ministries and indicated that they would like to learn more about our Keeler Women’s Center and Sophia Center ministries.
