Night of Dreams Donors Generously Support Mount Ministries

Mount sisters welcomed family, friends, oblates, and donors to a festive Night of Dreams on November 10, 2024. The dinner and auction to support the ministries of Mount St. Scholastica was held at the Loews Kansas City Hotel.
Guests visited and bid on a wide variety of silent auction items during a pre-meal reception. After an introduction by emcee Sandra Olivas, Community Development Outreach Officer at First Federal Bank, Sister Mary Elizabeth Schweiger, prioress, welcomed attendees.
Videos at the event featured music by the sisters; an overview of the ministries of Dooley Center, Keeler Women’s Center, and Sophia Center; and a tour of the monastery that described what the sisters are up to on a day-to-day basis.
Guests generously donated to a Fund-a-Need campaign, achieving a $100,000 matching grant. An oral auction conducted by the Nigro brothers featured a hand-crafted clock by Sister Elaine Fischer, a Vietnamese dinner for 12 by Sister Maria Nguyen, and various vacation trips and sports packages. Among Super Silent Auction items was a child’s quilt pieced by Sister Eleanor Suther and quilted by Sister Micaela Randolph.
The evening concluded with grand prize raffle drawings. The following winners received cash prizes: Thomas and Donna K., Nashotah, Wisconsin ($10,000); Kathy K., Atchison, Kansas ($2500); Mary Ann W., Omaha, Nebraska ($1000); Valerie H., Olathe, Kansas ($500); Edward and Kathy B., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ($500); and Kathie S., Carthage, Missouri ($500).
After expenses, the Night of Dreams generated $486,000 for the sisters’ ministries. We are grateful for the generosity of our donors and look forward to gathering again at the 2025 Night of Dreams on November 9, 2025, at the Loews Kansas City Hotel!
