Keeler Women’s Center Success Story

Farewell to Elizabeth Garcia

KWC - Elizabeth Garcia Adios

Elizabeth joined Keeler Women’s Center in 2019 as a participant of our Spanish programs.  During the pandemic, she attended our zoom programs in Spanish and began to attend English offerings.  It wasn’t long after we returned to in-person services that she became a volunteer.

At first, she volunteered as substitute receptionist and shortly became our Thursday morning volunteer on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th week of the month.  She began to develop leadership skills and confidence and was asked to become a member of the Spanish Programs Committee.  After some months, she gave her first class and since has assisted with religious topic classes and crafts.

You would also see her on Wednesdays doing the cleaning at our center. In the last year she served as the leader of our Create Beautiful Cards class where she integrated Spanish and English speaking participants.  Elizabeth also joined the St. Henry Deanery at KWC in hopes of becoming an oblate candidate.

Thank you very much for taking the time to value my qualities as a volunteer which gave me great confidence for the job interview.  Thank you for your encouragement.  Thank you for the opportunity to help me grow socially, emotionally and spiritually.

Elizabeth leaves us to go work as Nutrition Assistant for one of our partner agencies.    Soon we will have her share her growth and new knowledge with a new group of women to inspire the next success story. Buena suerte Eli! We are so proud of you.
