Sisters Tackle Fall Housecleaning

The sisters found the adage “Many hands make light work” to be true and know that plenty of outdoor work awaits when spring arrives.

The Wangari Committee planned an outdoor cleanup day for October 28, 2023, but pivoted to fall housecleaning instead when the day proved cold and blustery. Three areas in the monastery were targeted: the bake house, a back porch on the first floor, and the sun room.

Sisters Rosann Eckert, Alberta Hermann, Angela Ostermann, and Marilyn Schieber set to work in the bake house. Sisters Susan Barber, Elizabeth Carrillo, and Barbara Smith cleaned windows and windowsills in the back porch, and Sisters Delores Dolezal, Micaela Randolph, and Linda Zahner tackled the sun room, which is home to many plants. Meanwhile, Sisters Rosemary Bertels, Mary Margaret Kean, Helen Mueting, and Martha Schweiger filled bottles with honey for table favors at the Night of Dreams.

Three sisters braved the cold and ventured outside: Sisters Jennifer Halling and Loretta McGuire cleaned out some flower beds, and Sister Elaine Fischer washed the outside of the sun room windows.
