The Holy in Poetry—Exploring How the Poet Conveys the Divine (4-week series)
The Holy in Poetry—Exploring How the Poet Conveys the Divine (4-week series)
March 27 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm CDT
Poetry distills pieces of truth we have discovered in the living of life. In its succinct, vivid language, poetry gives us space to SENSE the truth before intellectually acknowledging it. Poetry often reveals what is sacred and holy, thus speaking of the divine whether the poet names God or not. April is national poetry month, so embark with us on a four week series exploring how the divine shines through poetry. Poetry selections will include writings from poets such as Mary Oliver, John O’Donohue, Hafiz, and René Maria Rilke.
Poetry is the deification of reality. —Edith Sitwell
God is the perfect poet. —Robert Browning
Every single soul is a poem. —Michael Franti
