Gospel of Nonviolence Study Group (a twice-monthly on-going series)
January 13, 2027 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm CST

What does it mean to live Jesus’ Way of Nonviolent Love in our own time?
The Gospel of Nonviolence (GNV) Study Group gathers twice each month to explore this question through the lenses of theology, Scripture, history, prayer, and conversation. Together, we seek to uncover the implications of Jesus’ Way of Love, deepen our understanding of nonviolence, nurture one another in this way of living, and consider how we might put it into practice.
Our gatherings include prayer—especially prayers of abandonment to Jesus’s Way of Love—along with presentations and discussion. Much of our reflection draws from the work of retreat master Rev. Emmanuel Charles McCarthy, with additional exploration of the writings of spiritual teachers such as Rev. John L. McKenzie, SJ, Dorothy Day, Clarence Jordan, and others who have sought to live faithfully according to Jesus’s Way of Love.
A typical gathering includes about an hour of listening and reflection, followed by time for discussion and conversation.
Everyone is welcome. You do not need a particular level of knowledge about the Gospel or nonviolence to participate. Whether you are new to these ideas or have been exploring them for years, you are invited to join us as we learn, pray, listen, and discern together what it means to follow Jesus’s way of nonviolent love.
Please register for the series by January 8, to participate in all sessions. However, we will continue to accept registrations through January 27th.
After we receive your registration, you can expect to receive a confirmation email from us which will include your invoice. We never want our retreat costs to be prohibitive to anyone who wants to attend our programs and so we offer scholarships. Fill out our simple scholarship request form now!
