The UISG, USG, and other Church organizations are promoting the campaign “Religious Life for Climate Justice: Turning Hope into Action,” encouraging Superiors General to sign a statement for a just and sustainable future.

As COP30 takes place in Belém, Brazil (Nov. 10–21, 2025), the Church calls for a deep ecological conversion centered on human dignity, solidarity, and justice. The message emphasizes that without climate justice there is no peace and urges a shift away from exploitative economic models.

In his message to COP30, Pope Leo XIV links peacebuilding with caring for creation, denouncing “collective selfishness” and framing the ecological crisis as a moral one. He calls all people, including governments, communities, and religious organizations, to take concrete action rooted in justice and responsibility.

UISG invites all religious congregations to sign and share the “Religious Life for Climate Justice” statement, uniting contemplation and action for the care of creation.

“There is no room for indifference or resignation. I conclude with a question that concerns each of us: God will ask us if we have cultivated, protected, and cared for the world he created for the benefit of all and for future generations, and if we have taken care of our brothers and sisters. What will be our answer?”

Pope Leo XIV
