A Time for Thanksgiving
G.K. Chesterton once said, “When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.” This is so simple and yet so profound. November is filled with reminders for us to be thankful.
November 1, All Saints Day: We reflect on the many women and men doing God’s work humbly and with great love.
November 2, All Souls Day: We remember those who have gone before us who have carved a path for us with their unselfish love and example.
November 3, Turn Back the Clocks Day keeps before us the precious gift of time.
November 5, Election Day brings great anxiety and concern, but we never lose our gratitude for the gift of being citizens of a country that allows us to vote for leaders that embody our values and the values of Jesus.
November 10, Night of Dreams is an opportunity to celebrate everyone who supports our sisters and our ministries.
November 11, Each year Veteran’s Day gives me great pause as I remember those who have given their lives so I might have freedom and live in a country that welcomes people of all faiths and all nationalities.
November 28, Thanksgiving Day pulls it all together with family, friends, our church community, our country and the most delicious foods.
On these days and every day, know how grateful we at Sophia are for each of you. Your visits bring us joy and a chance to share our lives with you. We hope November brings many opportunities for you to count your blessings. We pray for you each day—prayers of petition and prayers of thanksgiving.
