We, the Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica, are deeply troubled by acts of war being enacted in our name by this nation’s administration. We implore all our leaders and citizens to heed the call of Pope Leo XIV to pray for and to work for peace.  We affirm the following statement from our Pope as our plea for love in place of hatred and violence.

Pope Leo XIV

Pray for peace, work for peace, for less hatred. Hatred in the world is constantly increasing. Stability and peace are not built with mutual threats, nor with weapons, which sow destruction, pain, and death, but only through a reasonable, authentic, and responsible dialogue. Faced with the possibility of a tragedy of enormous proportions, I address to the parties involved a heartfelt appeal to assume moral responsibility to stop the spiral of violence before it becomes an irreparable abyss. May diplomacy recover its role and may the good of peoples be promoted, peoples who long for peaceful coexistence founded on justice. Let us continue to pray for peace.”
