The One Who Makes All Things New

In the stillness of winter, when the earth rests and the days so slowly grow lighter, we are reminded that God is always at work in the hidden places of our lives.

January invites us into a quiet, grace-filled threshold, a space between what has been and what is yet to come. In the stillness of winter, when the earth rests and the days so slowly grow lighter, we are reminded that God is always at work in the hidden places of our lives. January becomes an opportunity to pause, to breathe, and to renew our trust in the One who “makes all things new” (Revelation 21:5).

The year may be new, but God’s faithfulness is constant.

At Sophia, we step into a sacred rhythm that helps us notice the gentle movements of the Holy Spirit. The year may be new, but God’s faithfulness is constant. As we look back, we acknowledge our blessings, our challenges, and the moments where God carried us. As we look forward, we open our hearts to beginnings that may be small, uncertain, or unfolding slowly like the tulips resting beneath winter soil.

January’s new beginnings are not about sudden transformation, but about allowing God to reshape us from within. We are invited to surrender the weight we no longer need to carry, to heal from what has wounded us, and to trust that God’s grace is already preparing the path before us. This is a time to recommit to prayer, to rediscover gratitude, and to choose hope, even when daily headlines might give cause for despair.

We invite you to consider all the ways Sophia might help you renew yourself in the coming year. Consider attending one of the programs in our beautiful space or meet us over Zoom. We are pleased to offer some of our most loved retreats as well as some new ones that we’ve never presented before. Check your calendar and plan private prayer time in the Just Bee Hermitage or in historic St. Cecilia’s.

And on each day of the new year know how grateful we are for every one of you. Your visits bring us joy and a chance to share our lives with you. We hope 2026 brings many opportunities for you to count your blessings and grow in your faith. We pray for you each day.
