Sister Patricia Gamgort

I am a transplant from the East Coast to the Midwest:  born, bred in Wilmington, Delaware; former member of St. Gertrude Monastery, Ridgely, Md, now a member of Mount St. Scholastica.  I enjoy many cherished memories: educating students in Delaware; outreaching to the poor, thru St. Martin’s Ministries, Ridgely; participating in enriching monastic study programs in Europe and the Holy Land with 32 other Benedictine prioresses and  6 wks and 7 summers with hundreds of English-speaking Benedictines in Rome. I had a feeling of “at homeness” in Italy, my ancestral home, and was doubly thrilled to walk in the footsteps of Benedict, Scholastica, the apostles, and early Christians.  I am blessed to be able to serve at the Mount: early days in vocation ministry; Director of Pastoral Care with our elders in Dooley Center; and serving our employees in the food pantries.  In my spare time, I enjoy listening to and singing Neapolitan favorites; embroidering dish towels for our gift shop; and challenging myself with word games.
