Sister Cecilia Olson

I grew up in Beatrice, Nebraska, the youngest of three girls. Benedictine sisters were my teachers through both grade and high school; so in selecting a college, it seemed natural to choose their college, Mount St. Scholastica.  My oldest sister had graduated from the Mount and sang its praises, plus I had come to love and admire the Benedictines as teachers and friends.

My life as a Benedictine has overflowed with blessings. There is my beautiful family that continues to expand with great nieces and nephews.  There is the ordinary but extraordinary gift of sharing life with women who faithfully seek God through prayer and community. There have been my ministries in teaching and parish work which have given me the opportunity to work alongside great people and have been a source of joy, challenge, growth and genuine friendships.

While I’ve lived in Kansas most of my life, my Nebraska roots are still very strong. This is especially evident in my love for the Huskers!
