Sister Barbara Ann Mayer
I am a native of St. Louis, Mo. After attending two years at Mount St. Scholastica College, I entered the Benedictine Sisters in Atchison. I began teaching in 1958, and later worked as associate editor for The Leaven, the archdiocesan newspaper for northeast Kansas. I was associate editor of Sisters Today and director of public relations at Donnelly College for several years. In 1995, I became the editor of Benedictines magazine and in 2010 was also appointed editor of Threshold magazine. I wrote a self-published book of poetry entitled Glimmers of Glory. I was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, especially Stan Musial, but switched to the Kansas City Royals when I moved to Kansas. I enjoy playing cards and dominos, working crossword puzzles, reading novels, and writing poetry.
