SUMMARY:Hildegard as a Guide for the Second Half of Life (Part 1 of 4)
DESCRIPTION:Zoom \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLike billowing clouds\, Like the incessant gurgle of the brook\, The longing of the spirit can never be stilled. —Hildegard von Bingen \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin us for this 4-week series! For many women\, the second half of life can often feel like a mapless space that has few markers indicating which direction to go to lead a purposeful\, engaged life. In this retreat\, we will explore this terrain with Hildegard of Bingen\, a medieval Benedictine abbess and mystic whose prolific work in theological writing\, musical compositions\, letters\, and preaching tours all came in the second half of her life. Her theology of the feminine nature of God and the greening of the spirit throughout a lifetime can be a beautiful invitation and accompaniment for women who are seeking to be creative and courageous while looking at life from new perspectives and discerning their own faithful path of flourishing. This retreat will involve presentations\, time for reflection and creative expression\, and small group sharing. It is open to anyone who wants to explore and support women and the divine feminine in this stage of life. \n\n\n\nPlease register by November 5. \n\n\n\nAfter we receive your registration\, you can expect to receive a confirmation email from us which will include your invoice. We never want our retreat costs to be prohibitive to anyone who wants to attend our programs and so we offer scholarships. Fill out our simple scholarship request form now! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRenee Bhatia\n\n\n\nRenee Bhatia\, is a spiritual director and expressive arts facilitator with an interest in spirituality and creative expression. Her work explores contemplative spaces and practices that support healing\, growth\, and transformation. She is also involved in the formation of spiritual directors and expressive arts facilitators through teaching\, supervision\, and mentoring. Renee believes creativity is an inherent part of being human and we make the world a better place when we allow it to flourish in everyone.www.temenosarts.com

SUMMARY:Community Emergency Response Training (CERT)
DESCRIPTION:CERT training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. With training and practice\, and by working as a team\, you will be able to protect yourself and maximize your capability to help the greatest number of people after a disaster.  Before\, during\, and after disasters\, CERT volunteer teams perform basic response activities\, including checking in on neighbors\, distributing information to the public\, supporting emergency operations centers\, and helping to manage traffic and crowds. Local CERT programs train and organize teams of volunteers to assist their families\, neighbors\, co-workers\, and other community members. \n\n\n\nObjectives: \n\n\n\n\nTake steps to prepare themselves\, their families\, and their communities for a disaster.\n\n\n\n\n       2. SUMMARY:The Feast of St. Charles Borromeo
DESCRIPTION:(1538-1584) St. Charles Borromeo is renowned for reforming priestly formation and ministry. Born into a distinguished background during a time of rampant nepotism\, at the age of twenty-two\, Borromeo was made a cardinal by his uncle\, Pope Pius IV. Following the Council of Trent in which he played a prominent role in producing the Catechism\, Borromeo chose to be ordained instead of pursuing a career and position as head of the family.  \n\n\n\nBorromeo was consecrated as bishop of Milan in 1563. During his time there\, he tirelessly worked towards reform for clergy renewal and seminary formation\, developed a catechetical approach for children\, and insisted on proper celebration of the liturgy. During a famine\, he fed over three thousand people from his diocese and in a plague outbreak\, he was an example of Christian charity as he organized care for the sick\, buried the dead\, and attended to corporal works of mercy. \n\n\n\nSt. Charles Borromeo\, pray for us! \n\n\n\n“Be sure that you first preach by the way you live. If you do not\, people will notice that you say one thing\, but live otherwise\, and your words will bring only cynical laughter and a derisive shake of the head.”

SUMMARY:All Souls' Day
DESCRIPTION:The Commemoration of All Souls is a day of hope and prayer as we remember all those who have gone before us in this life. This day is particularly dedicated to prayer for those who are still awaiting the beatific vision. For Christians\, this day is not one of sorrow\, but of joyful expectation since we know that death has already been defeated by Christ.  \n\n\n\n“Death has been swallowed up in victory. ‘Where\, O death\, is your victory? Where\, O death\, is your sting?’” – 1 Corinthians 15:54-55

SUMMARY:All Saints Day
DESCRIPTION:On this day\, the Catholic Church celebrates both known and unknown individuals who have lived a life of love and fidelity to Christ. Saints continue to come from all different backgrounds and states of life\, depicting a glorious tapestry of the love of God in the world. Similarly\, each one of us is invited into a life-giving relationship with Christ as we live out the universal call of holiness. As we reflect on the virtues and love of the saints\, who are your favorite saints?  \n\n\n\n“Let us become saints so that after having been together on earth\, we may be together in Heaven.” – St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)
