Through a series of four brief videos—one for each week of Advent—you will find inspirational stories from everyday life\, a spiritual quote and a prayer that you can access at a time you find convenient. This mini-retreat is designed to help busy persons of all ages prepare for Christmas. It is perfect for both individuals and families. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMary Kay Whitacre\n\n\n\nMary Kay has worked in pastoral ministry in the Catholic Church for more than 45 years. She received a Master’s degree in Religious Education in 1982 and her Doctor of Ministry in 2017 from Seattle University.  After she graduated from the Souljourners Spiritual Direction Formation Program in 2005\, she joined the Souljourners staff. Currently\, Mary Kay is a part of the Souljourners leadership team. She provides spiritual direction and supervision\, and leads a variety of retreats for Sophia Center.   \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDebbie Carmody\n\n\n\nDebbie is retired after 28 years in pastoral ministry at Good Shepherd Parish in Shawnee\, Kansas. She has a Master’s degree in Religious Education from Loyola—New Orleans.

DESCRIPTION:Hybrid (Zoom/On-site) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration is full for the on-site retreat\, but you may register for the waiting list. Zoom registration is still available.  \n\n\n\nAdvent is a time of anticipating the coming of Jesus. This retreat\, intended for those with some familiarity with the Benedictine Rule\, will be a time to connect the season with St. Benedict’s teaching that we should find Christ daily in all those we meet. \n\n\n\nAn evening social will be held on Friday\, from 6-7:00 p.m. Please plan to join and meet your fellow retreatants. \n\n\n\nPlease register by December 1. \n\n\n\nAfter we receive your registration\, you can expect to receive a confirmation email from us which will include your invoice. We never want our retreat costs to be prohibitive to anyone who wants to attend our programs and so we offer scholarships. She edits Magistra\, a journal of the history of women’s spirituality\, and is the author of Wisdom from Saint Benedict (Lent and Advent volumes)\, The Vinedresser’s Notebook\, and Benedict’s Rule: An Inclusive Translation and Daily Commentary.
