SISTER VENARD TANGMAN, O.S.B. (1909-1998)
Sister Venard was born at St. Benedict in Nemaha County and grew up in rural
Kansas. She taught in Benedictine-staffed schools in this four-state area and
in Colorado.

SISTER THEOPHILA TANGNEY, O.S.B. (1899-1987)
Sister Theophila was a native of Rulo, Nebraska. As a member of Mount St. Scholastica
she was a teacher and administrator in high schools in Missouri, Kansas and Colorado.
She started teaching in California in 1953 and transferred membership from Mount
St.
Scholastica to St. Lucy's Priory in Glendora, Calif. in 1956.

Sister Antoinette spent fifty-six years as teacher and principal in schools of
Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. She was a native of
Paxico, Kansas.

Sister Irene Trompeter was born in Germantown (now Mercier), Kansas, She taught
many years in schools staffed by the sisters of Mount St. Scholastica. In 1956
she transferred to St. Lucy's

SISTER MARY JANE VAN DYKE, O.S.B. (1919-2003)
Sister Mary Jane taught in elementary and secondary schools in Kansas, Missouri,
and Iowa. She also started St. Dorothy's Grade School in Glendora, California.
Returning to Atchison, Kansas, she received a grant from Rascob to study needs
of the Atchison area. In 1980, she started a Service Center in tutoring by sisters
who were semi-retired, and a reading center.

SISTER ELIGIA WAGNER, O.S.B. (1901-1965)
Sister Eligia, born in Rich Hill, Missouri, came to Atchison in 1922. She taught
in elementary schools of Kansas, Iowa, and
Missouri for many years.

SISTER SUITBERTA WAHLMEIER, O.S.B. (1894-1987)
Sister Suitberta was born in Belpre, Kansas. She was a teacher and administrator
in a number of parochial schools and for fifteen years served as the superintendent
of public schools in Antonito,
Colorado.

SISTER MARY CHARLES WALSH, O.S.B. (1900-1995)
Sister Mary Charles was a native of Beloit, Kansas. A poet at heart and in work,
she was instructor in many fields including Latin, biology, mathematics, and
industrial arts. She was a translator of Latin and a librarian. Story writing
was one of her
many hobbies.

SISTER
MARY NOEL WALTER, O.S.B. (1925-1978)
Sister Mary Noel was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. Her life of service was spent
in schools of Missouri, Colorado, and Kansas. Having given many years to Mount
St. Scholastica College, she played a key role in organizing the new Benedictine
College, her terms as president, 1967-1972, bridging the transition. She exerted
wide leadership in her religious community and in the Federation of St. Scholastica.
She was a liberal thinker who
loved the wisdom of the ages.

area served by the Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica. In 1965, Sister Loretta
Louise transferred membership to Benet Hill Priory,
in Colorado Springs,Colo.
