SISTER PAULINE ANDERSON, O.S.B. (1888-1947)
Sister Pauline had taught in parochial schools of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and
Nebraska but spent most of her teaching career at the Academy at Mount St.
Scholastica. She was treasurer of the community of Mount St. Scholastica from
1926 to 1938. She made a hobby of biographical anecdotes of the sisters that
added a
personal warmth to factual accounts. She was originally from Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.

SISTER IMOGENE BAKER, O.S.B. (1909-1999)
Sister Imogene was editor of the Benedictine Review (1946-48). She served
on the Board of Directors of Benedictine College as well as on the Board of
Governors. Prior to that Sister Imogene served as member and
later chair of the English department of Mount St. Scholastica College (1937-50)
and as dean of the College (1950-62). In 1962 she was appointed director of
novices at Mount St. Scholastica (1962-1972.). She was associate editor of RB
80 and coordinator of that project. She was an Atchison, Kansas, native.

Sister Rosina was principally a music teacher but taught other subjects as
well in elementary and secondary schools in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska,
and Colorado. From 1971-1975, she was involved in religious education and then
worked in pastoral ministry. From 1977-1980, she was head of the Atchison Ministerial
Alliance. She was one of the founding members of the Hunger Task Force, a sub-committee
of the Ministerial Alliance. She is a native of Atchison, Kansas and presently
is retired.

Sister Elizabeth Ann was born in Purcell, Kansas. She received her Bachelor's
degree with a double major of Latin and French. In 1935 she earned a Master's
degree in French and Spanish. She taught in various high schools and at Mount
St. Scholastica College. Summer time frequently found
her furthering her language experiences - Centre de Rechercho, Philadelphia;
Elmira College, New York; Sarbonne University; Laval University and foreign
travel with college students.

SISTER MARY THERESA BRENTANO, O.S.B. (1902-1987)
Sister Mary Theresa was a scholar and teacher. She edited a Catholic High School
Literature Series used nationally for a
number of years. She was a recipient of a Ford Foundation Grant to study facilities
of learning. Sister Mary Theresa was a
pioneer in audio labs in education, developing an "electronic classroom" to
individualize teaching through the use of tape recordings. She was a native
of Purcell, Kansas.

SISTER HELEN BUENING, O.S.B. (1917-
Sister Helen Buening received an MFA from Notre Dame 1960. She taught in
elementary schools,then taught art in high school and college. In 1983 she
began teaching art appreciation (Picture Lady) in all elementary classrooms
(public and private) in Atchison and in Atchison County. Currently,
Sister Helen is working on an art book to be entitled, "Old Masters, Young Masters." It
is meant for any class room teacher as well as for home-school teachers.

Sister Celine, a native of Atchison, Kansas, was an educator for thirty-six

justice, which included service with the local hunger coalition and prison
ministry in nearby Leavenworth, Kansas.

SISTER AMBROSE CONWAY, O.S.B. (1887-1961)
Sister Ambrose was born in Ford City, Missouri. She was a secondary teacher
and principal in schools staffed by the
community of Mount St. Scholastica in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Colorado.
She was a member of the professional educational fraternity Pi Lambda Theta.

Sister Elaine held a master's degree in English, and completed graduate work
in chemistry. She taught at Donnelly College in
Kansas City, Kansas for twenty-three years. She was a recipient of six National
Science Foundation grants and spent two summers conducting plutonium research
at Argonne National Laboratories.

SISTER KIERAN CURRY, O.S.B. (1918-1995)
Sister Kieran was born to Irish immigrants in St. Joseph, Missouri. She held
a master's degree in library science, and studied at the Benedictine Institute
of Sacred Theology in St. Joseph, Minnesota. From 1958-75 she was librarian
at Mount St. Scholastica College and was instructor in English, theology, and
library science there and at Benedictine College after the merger. Responsibilities
within the Mount religious community engaged her for many years, 1967-1995.

Sister Mira was an elementary teacher and principal in elementary and high

SISTER KATHLEEN EGAN, O.S.B. (1915-
Sister Kathleen was associated with Mount St. Scholastica College and Benedictine
College for nearly 40 years in theatre arts as
teacher and director and in the library as a reference librarian.She received
two Masters Degrees; MA in Speech and Drama from Catholic University and
an MA in Library Science from St. Johns University. She was a personal
friend of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The books, which Sister Kathleen collaborated
on with her sister Eileen Egan, have been translated into several languages.

Sister Mary Paul taught English at Mount St. Scholastica College, 1964-68.
She has written articles for newpapers and magazines, including the St.
Joseph News-Press, the Atchison Globe, America, Catholic School
Journal, the Benedictine Review, and National Catholic Reporter.
She holds membership in the American Association of University Women, Amnesty
International, and Common Cause. Sister Mary Paul was born in St. Joseph, Missouri,
but grew up in Richardson County, Nebraska.
