From the Development Office
by Sister Mary Agnes Patterson, OSB
Director of Development
One Wednesday morning in September, after
the prayers of the faithful at the Eucharist, I sat down and reflected on
you, our benefactors, families and friends. Each Wednesday our community Eucharist
is offered for you and your intentions. I was thinking about all of you and
how blessed we are to have your love and support. All of a sudden I heard, “Mary
Agnes, Mary Agnes” and I looked to the sister in the next row and
she said “light the candle.” I jumped into action and lit
the candle, realizing the whole Mass had stopped, waiting for me to light
the candles. I had to smile because I was really praying for all of you … and
not just daydreaming that time!
My
new ministry as director of development has been a gift to me as I am
again in contact with you, our many friends. Life is a journey and our
families and friends are an important source of strength, support and
joy for us. I pray that we are supporting you with our prayers and concern
for you and your loved ones.
God
has blessed all of us with the gift of life and calls us to journey through
our earthly life, guided by the love of God and one another. Our
journey through life brings all of us many changes and challenges, joys
and sorrows.
St.
Benedict teaches us, ”As we progress in this way of life and in
faith, we shall run on the path of God’s commandments, our hearts
overflowing with the inexpressible delight of love.”
Thank
you for your support in so many ways in 2005 and in the past years. You
give generously of your time, talent and resources and we are appreciative.
As
we begin a new year I wish all of you many blessings and hearts overflowing
with love and gratitude for God’s great gifts to all of us. Happy
New Year!
