Summer 2009
With Thankful Hearts
Sister Mary Agnes Patterson, OSB
Director of Development & Communication
You, our friends, relatives and benefactors, are in my daily prayer! You have been so faithful and supportive of Mount St. Scholastica over the years and 2008 was an exceptional year for us.
Your support helps us care for our elderly sisters. At present, our care facility, Dooley Center, is fully occupied and was recognized as one of only a small number of nursing homes in the U.S. to receive a 5-star rating! Our sisters receive wonderful care from our dedicated staff and for that we are most grateful. The sisters appreciate all of you and pray daily for you.
Your support means that we may continue and expand our retreat and spirituality ministry at Sophia Center and our work with the poor at Keeler Women’s Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Our various services in Atchison, such as the Family Literacy Center and Happy Hearts Adult Learning Center, continue to offer unique educational opportunities for children, youth and adults in our area.
Your support helps us educate Benedictine sisters from Tanzania, two who are working on their college degrees and two who graduated in December, 2008. You also help our sisters in Brazil as they work to educate and serve the people of God in the city of Mineiros.
It is true to say you are our partners and we would not be able to continue all our works without your help of time, talent and treasure. You are gift to our community. In this issue we thank you for the generous donations you made to us in the calendar year 2008.
Thank you and know that we pray for you daily in our Liturgy of the Hours. Each Wednesday, our community Eucharist is offered for you and your loved ones. To request prayers you may contact me at 913-360-6215 or patterson@mountosb.org or on our web site: www.mountosb.org. Our prayer is our best way to thank you for your kindness to us.
