Our Ministries in Atchison
These ministries are important to us because hospitality is our community
charism. The peaceful setting and daily activities of the community
are conducive to reflection and discernment; learning, discovery and
prayer. Our visitors most often comment on the beauty of the campus,
especially the three beautiful chapels that are used regularly.
Sophia Center - A Benedictine
Center for Spirituality - Open to persons of all faiths, the Center's
programs address contemporary concerns, emphasize prayer, community,
personal integration, and the interconnectedness of creation. A peaceful
place to get away for private or directed retreats.
The Mount Conservatory
of Music - Artistic training in studio piano, pipe organ, harp, strings,
voice, woodwinds, and brass.
Justice and peace ministry: One of our Vision Statements says, “Our hunger and thirst for justice and peace will focus on the works of charity and our response to the root causes of injustice."

Our Ministries outside Atchison
Our sisters live in many communities outside of Atchison as well. Some
of these include Kansas City, Saint Joseph, Missouri, and Seneca, Kansas.
We minister as hospital chaplains, teachers and school administrators,
ministers of peace and justice, writers, doctors, parish ministers and
caregivers for the elderly. Our life in common and our prayer binds us
to one another as well as to all of the Sisters at the monastery in Atchison.
Our largest sponsored ministry outside of Atchison is Donnelly
College where several of our sisters provide educational opportunities
for those who otherwise may not be served. Keeler
Women's Center, located at 2220 Central, Kansas City, Kansas, has as its mission
empowering women in the urban core of Kansas City through education,
advocacy, personal, and spiritual development.
