A Vase of Fresh Flowers
Keeler Women's Center Theater Troupe
Thanks to Father Bob stone and the Altar Society of Nativity of Mary Parish in Independence, MO, for hosting the Keeler Women's Center's Theatre Troupe. The Troupe presented a Vase of Fresh Flowers, an original play written and performed by women involved with the Keeler Women's Center, on 17 July 2014.
It is an affirmation of the power, beauty and spirit of women and a celebration of the vital role that Keeler Women's Center plays in their lives. The play focuses on the many different paths journeyed and the courage and strength of women who seek purpose and find meaningfulness in their lives.
The performance mixes the symbolism of flowers and the imagery of vases to reveal life stories and life experiences of different women. It is an interactive theatre experience and includes a post performance talk-back session focused on issues raised in the play: domestic violence, addictions, survivorship. The play is directed by Deb Campbell with Kansas city Senior Theatre and is part of a drama therapy outreach program offered by the Center.
