Tribute to Wangari Maathai

Wangari Maathai was named 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner on October 8, 2004.

by Thomasita Homan, OSB

Dr. Wangari Maathai,
You are highly deserving
of the Nobel Peace Award.
You are a woman faithful to your dream,
faithful to the environment,
faithful to your people, and your many friends,
faithful to your country--and to the world at large.
Environment and peace
have been the pattern of your life
since your college days
at Mount St. Scholastica College,
now Benedictine College.
We, of the Mount Community and of Benedictine College
congratulate you and dream with you of a world,
green and glorious and
at peace.

Article from the Mount St. Scholastica Threshold magazine, Spring 2003
