Kingsley Leggs performs April 12 in ‘Concerts at the Mount’ series
Benedictine College grad's program is titled 'Sign My name'
Broadway singer and actor Kingsley Leggs will be in Atchison to perform a concert titled “Sign My Name” on April 12.
The performance begins at 3 p.m. in St. Scholastica Chapel at Mount St. Scholastica. Leggs will be accompanied by Kathie Weishar Dalzell. Tickets for the performance are $12 at the door, or $5 for students.
The concert is part of the “Concerts at the Mount” series which began in 2012 to fill a gap in concert offerings created when the Atchison Community Concerts Association ceased to exist.
Leggs is a 1983 graduate of Benedictine College who went on to appear on Broadway in “The Color Purple,” “Sister Act,” and “Porgy and Bess.”
The concert is a free-spirited and relaxed offering, featuring diverse music and highlighting a journey through life and the entertainment industry. It will be lightened with stories, anecdotes and experience that teach, entertain and inspire. The program includes early slave chants, spiritual and gospel music, American music, Broadway hits and classical music.
